Far from the hackneyed clichés about Mauritius, you’ll visit the Tamarin saltworks and the Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll drive past fields of sugar cane and pineapple to the Chamarel rum factory where you’ll discover how rum is made. After lunch in an idyllic setting at Varangue sur Morne, you’ll be enchanted by the sight of the Grand Bassin Sacred Lake and its Hindu temples.
End the day at the Aubineaux colonial house in the center of the island, which was built in 1872 and takes you back to the splendour of colonial life.

The East Coast in a catamaran

Duration: 1 day
A bus will take you to the south-east coast of the island, where you’ll board a catamaran to explore the east coast. You’ll visit the Grande Rivière Sud-Est waterfall in a motorboat, then the catamaran will take you to the Ile aux Cerfs, where you’ll have free time to swim and stroll.

Discover a fabulous lagoon and enjoy lunch on board the boat: chicken, fish and crayfish barbecue, serenaded by local musicians.
